Built from firsthand experience

The housing problem nobody talks about fixing.

FlorInnce began with a simple belief: professionals who travel to care for other people deserve a clearer, more flexible way to find furnished housing.

Why FlorInnce exists

A story anyone on assignment already knows.

Travel assignments move quickly. The contract arrives, the start date is close, and suddenly you are trying to judge a home in an unfamiliar city from a handful of photos and messages.

FlorInnce began after Tommy’s first travel assignment showed him exactly how vulnerable that process could feel.

My first travel assignment was in New Jersey. Pediatric ICU. I remember hanging up with my recruiter after signing my contract and thinking—okay, now what? She sent me a resource page. Airbnb, VRBO, Furnished Finder. That was it. I was on my own.

Airbnb and VRBO would’ve eaten through my entire travel pay in fees. So I turned to Furnished Finder. Weeks of messaging landlords, waiting days to hear back, trying to get someone to FaceTime me so I could actually see what I was paying for. All of this while preparing for my first ICU assignment in a state I’d never lived in.

When I finally found a place—a landlord who actually responded fast, sent a video, seemed genuine—I sent the deposit. I was so relieved.

“I shouldn’t have been.”

I showed up to an apartment that looked nothing like the video. The landlord was late with the keys. That warm, responsive energy? Gone.

That first night I woke up with a sore back. The mattress sagged straight down the middle. When I lifted it up, there was a stain on the foundation and the frame was snapped clean in half.

The kitchen tiles had dirt and rust packed into every crack. When I opened the cabinet—roach tablets. Just sitting there out in the open.

I called the landlord and told them I was moving out by the end of the week. Suddenly they were warm again. Told me not to worry about the deposit.

A few days after I moved out, I texted to ask when I’d get it back.

“You won’t—because you left early.”
“This is Furnished Finder, not New Jersey tenant law.”
“See you in small claims.” — blocked.

I had quoted New Jersey tenant law word for word. It did not matter. The platform had helped me find the listing, but when the situation went wrong, I was on my own again.

“The job already asks enough of you. Finding a place to live should not add another layer of uncertainty.”

FlorInnce was built to make those decisions clearer: payments handled through the platform, policies written around assignment life, and useful details available before a traveler books.

It is not about adding more noise to the process. It is about giving travelers and hosts a straightforward place to understand the booking, follow the rules, and know what happens when plans change.

What we built instead

Every feature starts with a real problem.

A smaller set of practical protections—explained clearly and designed around how assignment housing actually works.

01

Structured platform payments

Rent and required security deposits are collected through FlorInnce and processed by Stripe. Travelers should never be asked to send an off-platform payment directly to a host.

02

Traveler-specific checks

Nurse-license information is checked through Nursys. Other professionals may be checked through applicable licensing sources or a third-party background screening process.

03

Check-In Guarantee

A defined claim process helps travelers report serious habitability problems or major listing misrepresentation discovered when they arrive.

04

Assignment Cancellation Protection

If a qualifying assignment is cancelled before check-in, timely documentation can return all rent paid and the full security deposit. During a stay, timely approval can prevent the next biweekly cycle charge and avoid the standard deposit penalty.

05

Low, transparent traveler costs

No cleaning fees. FlorInnce may charge a small, clearly disclosed traveler fee related to security-deposit handling or booking protection. Any applicable fee is shown before payment.

06

Details that matter on assignment

Host-submitted amenities, bed information, neighborhood context, and map views help travelers compare homes before booking. Third-party safety information is informational and does not guarantee safety.
